Before We Turn the Page
Sangha
We humans are a peculiar bunch. We’re social beings who thrive most when embedded within a community of like-minded people with shared experiences — yet that community can’t exist without the individuality and unique perspectives of each member.
In mindfulness traditions, there’s a word for that kind of community: sangha. It loosely translates to a group of people who practice together, supporting one another not by being the same, but by showing up as they are.
That’s what Sunday Setup has become for me this year.
Whether you’ve been quietly reading every week, occasionally replying with a thoughtful note, or clicking a link just to confirm, “Wait… was that story real?” — your presence mattered. Your curiosity, feedback, and willingness to reflect alongside me is what kept this little practice alive.
As the year winds down, this is usually the moment when inboxes fill with scorecards, resolutions, and unsolicited advice. I’ll spare you all that.
Instead, I’ll offer a quieter invitation: take a moment — sometime between now and whatever holiday chaos awaits — to notice what you carried this year. The challenges you didn’t anticipate. The moments you handled better than you thought you would. And the ones you’re still figuring out.
Because reflection isn’t about fixing the past. It’s about understanding the terrain you’re walking into next.
What Comes Next
Looking ahead, 2026 will bring more strange stories, more workplace absurdities, and more small invitations to pause, notice, and respond with intention — along with a few new ideas I’m excited to explore with you.
For starters, Sunday Setup is moving to a new email home in the new year. Same writer. Same weird stories. Slightly fewer duct-taped tools holding things together. So, if anything feels off — or surprisingly better — I’d genuinely love to hear about it.
Thanks for being part of this sangha.
If there’s a topic you’d love to see covered, a moment that stuck with you, or a quiet “hey, this helped” you feel like sharing, my inbox is always open.
I’m grateful to walk this strange, thoughtful path with you.
